Jane Bramley is a self taught artist who is still experimenting in a variety of media. She began her painting as an adult at the turn of the new century.

On this site you can wander through some of her galleries. These include a few oil paintings inspired by late TV artist, Bob Ross; some rare watercolours inspired by many local artists and demonstrators. Also you will find some Pastel paintings, recently inspired anew by an American artist, Lesley Harrison, and several Chromacolour (acrylic)subjects, inspired and taught by Mark Holiday, local tutor and artist.Jane lives with her family in a small village in Yorkshire, U.K.

Whilst having a passing interest in sketching, Jane did not start to paint until ill health forced her to give up a busy working life. Painting gave her the opportunity to fulfil a need to create and 'do' something whilst incapacitated at home. (This is where the TV artists came into her life!)

Jane's other great passion is the breeding and exhibition of Lop Rabbits. She is a National Specialist and Senior British Rabbit Council Judge. To learn more about this side of Jane's life, visit her other website at http://www.uptonlops.co.uk

On that site you will see some of the models for Jane's speciality of subject in her animal portraits!

Exhibitions

Jane Bramley has just begun to exhibit some of her work locally. Two small exhibitions at a local library have produced some interest in her work and one or two commissions have been accepted from this contact. Also several paintings and prints have been sold. Most of Jane's work has been seen at Rabbit Shows around the country, since this is the area that Jane has specialised in up to now. This is where most of her commissions come from, understandably.

In 2003 Jane submitted four paintings to the Great Sheffield Art Show and was delighted to have three of them accepted! This wonderful show is reputed to the be the largest Art Show in the UK outside London. The paintings accepted were the pastel "English Lop" and two chromacolour paintings "Garden Trio of Lop Rabbits" and "Woodland Stag". For more details of this show visit www.gsas.co.uk

Jane has also helped to organise a small workshop based group locally in South Elmsall, near Pontefract. The group meets once a week just to paint for a couple of hours, without family/home distractions. The group is free so if you are in the area just contact jane for further details of the group. The group also exhibit at least a couple of times a year in the local library and also in Pontefract library just before Xmas.

Jane also showed in a couple of other competitions in 2003. At the Askern Lord Mayors Show Jane was awarded a Highly Commended award with a pastel "Gypsey Foal" Also at the Shadwell Show, near Leeds, Jane was awarded the Art Trophy for her Chromacolour painting "Forgotten Toy". The child in this painting was modelled by her niece, Danielle. This painting was sold in the November at the Pontefract Library Exhibition for £200, but a few prints are still available in two sizes.

Jane is still developing her style and is still experimenting in many media.

"Mounted, open edition prints available. A4 prints are from £22 and A3 from £26. Commission prices vary depending on media and subject, and should be discussed personally with the artist."
